| A lot of the material is from others who have chosen to share. Some of it is from my own life. I'm nobody special, but I go through problems, just as everyone else does. Perhaps someone else may benefit from what has happened to me. I ask for nothing in return. Nobody will ask you to sign a guest book. Nobody will ask you to buy anything. Nobody will ask you to donate money for anything. Well, there is ONE thing that I ask -- if the Internet Beacon has helped you in some way, I ask you to help someone else. We hear about "family-friendly sites" all the time, as if that's the expected norm for a "legitimate" web site. The Internet Beacon is not a family-friendly site -- it's rated 16 and older -- and I don't think that's a bad thing. There are plenty of places for children to be entertained and educated on the Web. But adults need different types of support, and may even be reluctant to ask for it. The Internet Beacon is intended for adults. Don't worry -- there's no porn! But we do deal with some grown-up subjects, especially in the awards program. I've never really done much in the way of promoting the site. People just seem to find it. Some have called me a fool for putting so much time and effort into a site that won't benefit me financially in any way. Perhaps I am. But I have no intention of ending my foolishness anytime soon. | |||
